Marine Harvest (Scotland) Ltd. has pledged two scholarships to our prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Aquaculture, Environment and Society ( EM JMD ACES). Run by the Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS UHI) in collaboration with the universities of Crete and Nantes, this two-year programme gives students a unique opportunity to travel throughout Europe, be taught by a team of international experts and gain the skills required to address an issue of global importance - food security. The Marine Harvest Scholarship is open to graduates from EU member states and it will meet the cost of tuition fees as well as providing students with a fantastic opportunity to work with the company for a period of 6 months while they complete their industry-led dissertation. Students will gain an insight into an industry that has become Scotland's biggest food export - Atlantic salmon provides the country with a financial income of more than £500 million per year.
Marine Harvest (Scotland) Limited is the largest producer of Atlantic salmon in Scotland, producing over 50,000 tonnes of salmon per year. Based in Fort William, the company prides itself on being a major employer of skilled people, who strive to produce high quality, healthy and nutritious seafood in the most sustainable way.
