Ακολουθεί μία σύνοψη της βραδιάς...
Η απονομή των βραβείων Emmy δεν είχε καμία σχέση με αυτά που είχαμε συνηθίσει το βράδυ της Κυριακής, αφού ήταν virtual στο μεγαλύτερο μέρος της, ενώ είχε και έναν απρόσμενο πρωταγωνιστή. Η κωμωδία Schitt’s Creek από τον Καναδά αν και αναμενόταν να έχει σημαντικό ρόλο, τελικά σάρωσε όλες τις κατηγορίες της κωμωδίας με επτά νίκες σε 15 υποψηφιότητες.
To Watchmen μετά τα επτά βραβεία στις δημιουργικές τέχνες, πήρε άλλα τέσσερα μέσα στα οποία αυτό για την καλύτερη limited σειρά αλλά και για τις ερμηνείες των Regina King και Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Παράλληλα, έγραψε ιστορία αφού έγινε η πρώτη σειρά βασισμένη σε κόμικ που κερδίζει.
Τέσσερα βραβεία και για το Succession για την καλύτερη δραματική σειρά, ανδρικό ρόλο για τον Jeremy Strong αλλά και σενάριο-σκηνοθεσία. Για τον καλύτερο γυναικείο ρόλο η Zendaya έκανε την έκπληξη και πήρε το βραβείο για το Euphoria επικρατώντας των φαβορί που ήταν η Τζένιφερ Άνιστον για το Mοrning Show και η Λόρα Λίνεϊ για το Ozark, ενώ ο Mark Ruffalo βραβεύτηκε για το I Know This Much is True.
